Daniel Goulding scored 1-5 as Eire Og advance to round 3 ofthe Premier Intermediate football championship after beating Beal Atha’nGhaorthaidh by 3 Points in Cill Na Martra on Saturday evening. Beal Atha willrue missed chances but on the balance of play Eire Og certainly deserved theirwin. The first half was evenly match with Eire Og playing with a gale forcewind. Goulding scoring the first point of the game from a free on three minutes.Conchur O Loingsigh got Beal Atha of the mark with a good point from a free onsix muintes. Eire Og got two in a row through another Goulding free and Colm O’Callaghan,Ben Seartan replied for Beal Atha, 0-3 to 0-2 after 12 minutes in favour of theOvens out-fit. O’Callaghan got his second of the game before Beal Atha got twoon the trot from Diarmuid Mac Tomais and Cian O Duinnin to level the contest. Twopoints from Goulding and substitute Aidan O’Connor made it a two point gameagain on twenty three minutes. A monster point from Dermot O’Herlihy sandwichedbetween two Mac Tomais points had 1 point in it at the break 0-7 0-6 in favourof Eire Og. Playing against the wind Eire Og held on to possession expertly andgot the first score of the half from a Liam Sheehan free on forty minutes. DonaghSeartan replied for the Gealtacht side before the decisive score came on fortyfive minutes when Goulding caught a long ball from Daire McCarthy and finishedsuperbly to the net to give Eire Og a four point lead, 1-8 0-7. Ben Seartanreplied but Goulding kept Eire Og’s four point lead in tact with another free. BealAtha hit two in a row from sub Aindreas O Coinceannain and Donagh Seartanbefore Eoin O’Shea replied for Eire Og. Goulding would get Eire Og’s finalscore on sixty one minutes, O Coinceannain rounded off the scoring with a 13metre free on 62 minutes. Eire Og advance to round 3 while Beal Atha will face Macroomin the losers round.
